Beyond the greens not holding approach shots everything was fine for the conditions. My experience started off really good. Ram Rock's bent greens have some wear on them at this stage of the summer. There's a small beach area on the lake were small kids dug sandcastles, while parents hung out by the open-air bar, and teenagers had found a sunny nook behind some rocks where they could be away from their parents. But even though high-rollers can certainty get their privacy and amenities here, the area has a wonderfully mixed vibe with homes and condos for any budget, and resort-goers can find good bang for their buck here compared to other luxury golf resorts in San Antonio and Austin.The highlight of the round is the opening stretch of the back nine. They also have a snack shack of sorts after #9 that serves various sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. That naturally happens to courses over time, but some of the greens are comically small. Application for Resort membership must be made to Horseshoe Bay Resort, Inc. and is subject to approval of the Resort. Go. Many of the greens are tiny and elevated/mounded. This course is very tight and honestly too tight. Too many holes if you barley miss it leaves you OB. That renovation money was spent improving a number of things but with the primary goal of making the course a little more forgiving for the average golfer. There are a lot of dogleg lefts, so I hope righties out there can hit a draw. Easily zoom in on different holes. In the middle of the round, there are some low-lying, very narrow holes where driver is not the play. Hard par, easy bogey indeed.Ram has an infamous reputation as one of the toughest in Texas. The rest of the layout is quite nice and a little more manageable than Ram Rock for higher handicaps. The grounds are meticulously manicured and there are plenty of facilities. Would absolutely play again.Very challenging and gorgeous course. Tee shots are very demanding. It's a fun and active hang with games to play and gym equipment to climb. And I suspect it's rarely open if ever right now. Water comes into play on 12 holes, but Mr. 200 Hi Stirrup Horseshoe Bay, Texas 78654 Burnet County I've read up some on the improvements and I'm sure they helped us out quite a bit. I played on the first 70s day in months, so hopefully cooler climes bring them back for fall.It was cool to see Ram Rock for the first time in about 8 years.
