Scharf named Fellow of ASM International Thursday, May 14, 2020 Thomas Scharf, a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, recently was elected Fellow of ASM International for significant contributions in materials tribology and surface engineering, pioneering work on solid lubricant materials and mechanisms, and distinguished service to the materials science community. The purpose of this award is to recognize leadership at an early stage and encourage individuals to grow, nurture, and further contribute to the growth of the profession, as well as the society.
