GPU was and still is a 1080 running at 2100MHz core/11 GT/s memory. At 1440p, in games, the difference has been zip so far.
This is AMD’s first Ryzen 9 processor and it is a 12-core, 24-thread CPU based on their latest 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. 3733 with those timings and 1.4v should be easy.
The 3900X has a boost/base clock of 3.8/4.6 GHz, 64 MB of L3 cache (double the L3 on the rest of 3000 series), support for 3200 MHz DDR4 system memory and a TDP of 105W. I usually play video games and do some work on my PC too.
Other than that it is good to go.Did the same switch and depending how much you overclocked your 6700k(mine was running at just 4.4ghz) you will see small to no gaming difference, but a LOT multitasking performance. (Except I kept my 1080 GPU) For ordinary tasks you wont notice any difference. Looking beyond just games, the 3900X is obviously much better when I fire up an occasional stream. For my use case, a 3700X would probably have been just as good as the 3900X. Go find out what innovation truly is. Plus a Ryzen 4700x or 4900x next year which are apparently 5 to 8 percent ipc improvement and 100 to 200mhz faster...Well, I did not know that, I can wait until March next year.Neither, the 3700x is a far better value than either.Value isn't much of a concern, FutureProofing and performance is. Cooling won't be a problem as I'll be getting an EVGA CLC 280mm. An actual UPGRADE. Hello, pretty noob question but I am just wondering if upgrading from i7 6700K to Ryzen 9 3900x is a worthy upgrade. Both of those CPU’s cost closer to $500. I'm going to be building a PC soon and don't know if I should get a Ryzen 7 3700X or an i7-9700K for a pure gaming PC. Programming, compress files, editng videos... it's just faster. I had microstutterings in games with the 6700k in heavy cpu games like Battlefield V. Now I can finally play stutterfree Rotterdam :) And if you do anything else besides gaming you will find it faster.
Keyboard - Corsair K70.
Okay so I am about to upgrade my entire rig (everything) and I am stuck at CPU, particularly between i7 9700k and Ryzen 9 3900x (i9 9900k is just not worth it for the price). You definitely do not need all the cores and threads of the 3900X, if you want to go AMD the 3700X is a better value. And 3900X has 12 cores, I know what you are thinking off. Single threaded ops should be better as well so it's worth an upgrade.same here, except my 3950x is in the car, because I went and picked up my reservation.Hell yes that's an upgrade.
I finally said, let me try team red CPUs and I couldn't be happier.
The 3900X makes sense if you do actual work that benefits from the extra threads. For heavy loads, esp multiple loads, its quite a bit smoother.I'll leave this here. Bring that 3900x home.Depends on what you wanna do.
Detailed side by side comparison of AMD Ryzen 9 3900X vs Intel i7-9700K specs can be found in the Specifications section below. Dont waste more time of your life on that 6700K.
I can let you know when I get my hands on one but it should be a worthy upgrade especially in multitasking jobs. Alas, I felt like trying out team red and had the budget. That 3200 CL14 memory has to be b-die.
If you don't have budget issues, go for it, just avoid MSI MPG Gaming Wifi X570 mobo.6700k is still a very powerful cpu tho, my wife is really enjoying it :)Went from a 4.8 GHz 7700K and 4x8 GB of 3200 MT/s CL14 memory to a stock 3900X with the same memory OCed further to 3600 MT/s 16-17-17-36.
Theres a very good chance that it should OC farther than that.
Also for CPU streaming/rendering it's a extreme upgrade.i can easily have 5 videos open now and game at the same time, ive never had my second monitor watching a stream, youtube video or whatever else, peg my cpu as high as you claim. Workstation? Problem is, i7 9700k is an 8c/8T CPU while 3900x is a 12c/24T CPU.
