On the north side, there’s access to Papago Park and its wonderful trail options. Family friendly with paddle boats, paddle boards, and bicycles to rent. Bridge lights up at night and has beau urban scenery.Great for a morning walk; no shade in quite a few places, but good for a good stretch of your legs.

there's another way to get to the other side of the lake if you follow the trail up and cross the other bridge along the main road there's less foot traffic there.The far east end has lots of "urban campers" and trash. The loop is a good walk of 5 miles plus. The rest is a flat walk with lots of people. We prefer the south (Tempe) side, which  features downtown Tempe off Mill St., Beach Park, and the University.

Very easy and fur babies enjoyed a lot. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat.Nice easy trail for everyone. It was a leisurely pace.Set some time aside if you want to do the full circuit!I had a great time biking here.

We ended up following the river but that was hairy because we had to cross a spillway that had some water on it.

Tempe Fire Department officials say the derailment happened around 6:09 a.m., and involved a Union Pacific train. I scrambled down some river rocks and along a path that really felt sketchy trying to get back to the main trail by the lake.
