The Engineer tradition could be a part of home Lehigh/Lafayette events and be combined with the tradition of beating the Leopards. If we’re being honest, I think the mascot would’ve wanted you to move on by now. Prior to that, Lehigh athletic teams were known as the “Engineers.”.

To preserve Lehigh's athletics history and tradition, the university continues to use the nicknames "Brown and White" and "Engineers" when referring to Lehigh athletics teams of the past, and in particular those teams prior to 1996. It is composed of 12 ranks of 8 members and one drum major to conduct the entire band.

The athletic teams of Lehigh (founded in 1865) were known as the Engineers until the 1995–96 academic year.

They remain haunted by a 2007 decision to ban the controversial Chief Illiniwek. The use of the nickname would be appreciated by pre 95 alumni and could be combined with throwback uniforms. Chief Illiniwek was a source of controversy for years at the university, with many students, professors, outside groups, Native American organizations and people who have eyes viewing the mascot as an offensive appropriation of Native American culture that perpetuated certain racist stereotypes. Because it requires expertise in both hardware and software areas, the Computer Engineering program is offered jointly by the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). However, they won the Patriot League Championship in 2015, earning them an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. Made in the 1940's or 1950's these are new old stock.
