Universal Pictures 100th Anniversary Logo Intro. Those early series are probably the source of this logo. Notes 1 Co-owned with Sony Pictures Entertainment and Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation. Very classic.

In early 1964, the studio introduced the TV version of the respective theatrical movie logo, which remained thereafter.Universal's subsidiary, United World Films, bought Castle Films from its founder, ex-newsreel cameraman Eugene Castle, in 1947, and operated the company for the next 30 years. This isn’t one of my fave studio logos but still it’s cool to learn more about it.

In 2004, Vivendi Universal sold a majority of Universal Entertainment to General Electric who combined it with NBC to create a company which was owned 80 percent by General Electric and 20 percent by Vivendi.

This Universal Pictures logo spanned almost three decades (27 years to be exact, from 1963 until 1990) and has now been given a proper HD version that has a more open matte without all the cropping that we have had to deal with.
